About The Australian Opal Shop

The Australian Opal Shop is a family-run jewellery business specializing exclusively in natural solid Australian opals.

With over 25 years of experience cutting, polishing and selling Australian opal, we create and carefully select one-of-a-kind opal rings, pendants, earrings and other jewellery set in gold and sterling silver.

We only sell natural solid Australian opal. We do not sell opal doublets, triplets or lab-created opals.

Our opals come from Australia's major opal mining regions, including Lightning Ridge in New South Wales and Winton, Koroit and other Queensland opal fields, as well as Coober Pedy in South Australia.

More than 5,000 unique pieces of opal jewellery have been sold through our website to customers throughout Australia and around the world.

We have operated opal shops on the Gold Coast for more than 12 years, including previous locations at Pacific Fair and Harbour Town.

Our current shop is located at 186 Brisbane Road, Arundel on the Gold Coast, with convenient parking directly in front of the store.

We are proud members of the Australian Opal Association (Member No. 187). Owner John McDonald served as Treasurer of the Association from 2014 to 2016 and has completed its opal identification testing.

Our experience allows us to confidently identify the opals we sell, and our jewellery is supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity confirming that the opal is natural Australian opal.
