About The Australian Opal Shop

The Australian Opal Shop is a family-run jewellery business specialising exclusively in natural solid Australian opals.

With over 25 years’ experience cutting, polishing, and selling opals, we create and curate one-of-a-kind opal rings, pendants, and earrings set in gold and sterling silver.

We do not sell doublets, triplets, or lab-created opals — only genuine Australian solid opal stones.

We have sold over 4,500 unique opal jewellery pieces through our website, serving customers across Australia and internationally.

We have operated Opal Shops on the Gold Coast for over 12 years, including previous locations at Pacific Fair and Harbour Town.

Our store is located at 186 Brisbane Road, Arundel (Gold Coast), with easy parking directly out front.

We are proud members of the Australian Opal Association (Member No. 187).

Owner John McDonald served as Treasurer from 2014–2016 and is certified in opal identification, allowing us to issue Certificates of Authenticity with confidence for our jewellery.
