The Sandstone Opal Matrix was mined in Western Queensland near the town of Winton.
The Opal Specimen's surface is full of blue, red and green sparkling opal colours.
This stone has been cooked in oil to enhance the Opal colours inside.
Fairy Opal is the name given to natural sandstone opal matrix that has been cooked and burnt with cooking oil to blacken the sandstone, which in turn, makes it easier to see the opal colours.
