Pipe Opal and Wood Replacement Opal is a term to describe natural opals that forms in pipe/tube - like structures. Usually in sandstone. It is believed to be wood branch, tree roots or leaf matter that has become Opalised
The Pipe Opal Specimen has been expertly polished to keep its natural shape and keep as much Opal as possible.
This Pipe Opal was mined in Western Queensland near the town of Quilpie.
A certificate of authenticity stating that the opal in the specimen is a Natural Solid Australian Opal is included.
